How is child support calculated in Thailand?

Two variables

The child’s reasonable needs, and each parent’s ability to contribute. Both are questions of evidence rather than formula.

Evidencing need

School fees, medical costs, housing, transport and daily expenses — documented with receipts rather than estimated in a schedule prepared for the hearing.

Evidencing means

Payslips, tax filings, business records and lifestyle evidence. Where a paying parent is self-employed or based abroad, this is usually the contested part of the case.

Variation and enforcement

Orders can be varied when circumstances materially change. Enforcement against a parent outside Thailand is a separate and harder question, and should be assessed before proceedings begin.
